The Potential of the Bismuth, Lapis & Peridot Trio

Original Post: February 9, 2020
Update: March 6, 2020

So Steven Universe Future has been on my radar lately, but I suppose that's what I get for constantly running into clips about certain segments of Steven Universe.  I've also heard a lot about certain characters that I think it's about time I give my opinion about.

Everyone is allowed to have an opinion, but that doesn't really change the fact that I find certain opinions... well, odd.

One of them is reuniting the Jasper, Lapis & Peridot Trio.
Yeah, remember when Peridot was basically the Steven Universe's Vegeta but without the heavy body count solely being her fault?

Yeah, those were some good old days.

And sure, it would resurrect some potential nostalgia in the sense of an evil trio, but I personally do not care if Jasper is getting a potential redemption arc: the shit between those three (most popularly between Jasper and Lapis) is just too much.

Now, there are a lot of characters far worse than Jasper that have made miraculous turn-arounds.  I mean, I sincerely doubt that the Vegeta from the beginning of Dragon Ball would believe he would turn into someone later down the line who would literally cry at the thought of failing Bulma and Trunks as he's being knocked out of the ring in Dragon Ball Super's Tournament of Power because what is at stake involves them.

The thing is, there is potential for Jasper to change, but there seems to be no desire for change coming from Jasper and/or a sudden reason that would change Jasper's heart.  It also isn't like that Jasper's got something to protect.  If she does, then I would think it's more out of obligation and personal pride rather than out of love.

Exactly what happens to her in Steven Universe Future, I'm not sure. I've heard she gets shattered and the wikipedia confirms this, but I think she's supposed to get a redemption arc too, as she is revived by Steven.

However, this isn't exactly about Jasper: I only point out that there is too much crap that isn't worked through and Jasper is too stubborn of a character for the reuniting of a Jasper, Lapis, & Peridot Trio that would make the team any better than what they were before, which was the evil trio that was the villain for the week.

As pointed out between Aang and Katara in E;R's The Legend of Whorra (Part 2), what makes the Bismuth, Lapis, & Peridot trio is an air of respect: something Jasper doesn't have and likely would not give.  Even if they don't have that much respect, then you can at least imply that there's a hell of a lot more where Bismuth is concerned then there is with Jasper.

Now even if Jasper did, or at least wanted to become a better Gem, do you honestly expect me to believe that Lapis would throw herself into a situation with Jasper intentionally?  Plus, let's not forget how much Peridot loves Lapis as a friend: there's no way that Peridot would support that kind of thing.  To make matters worse, if Lapis was such a jerk to Peridot when reaching out to her in Barn Mates, then what the heck to you expect me to believe would happen if she was expected to do the same thing with the very Gem that not only abused her, but whom she abused right back in a fit of anger and frustration?

Lapis admits that she's in the wrong to some degree, but that's for another post.

Now, some of you might be thinking, "You're not writing this just to point out the respect, are you?" And, you would be right - I'm not.  The truth is that Bismuth, Lapis and Peridot have so much potential as a trio that I hope they dive into it.

One of the biggest potentials in this trio is the fact they could contribute in a way that can't be done by anyone else.  Bismuth is a blacksmith, Peridot is a genius, and Lapis is not only powerful, but revealed potential for this dynamic in Why So Blue?

Could you imagine what they could make?  Peridot's genius, Bismuth's know-how, and Lapis being able to get the resources together would be a force to be reckoned with.  Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if they were doing that already by the time of Steven Universe: The Movie, which would explain what the heck they were doing off-screen on Earth.

From what I understand, it's revealed in Bismuth Casual that Bismuth was responsible for constructing Little Homeworld.

Now if that's what they have been doing off-screen, then I'm going to frown at the loss of much needed ideas pertaining to development.  Sure, Lapis is all happy now, but how exactly did she get there?

How did she work things out with Peridot after her return in Reunited?

Like, how much crap can a single Gem take from one other Gem, especially one that she held so dear to her heart?  I mean, before Reunited, Peridot was freaking depressed in Back to the Kindergarten! And, let's be honest here, it was towards a Gem that really didn't deserve it, which makes Peridot all the more loveable.

You can't just forge a bond like that and give it little to no glance when the one who broke the other's heart suddenly comes back into the picture!  Everything just can't be okay, even if it's because Peridot is more selfless than we thought and/or is better at hiding how she feels behind a sarcastic persona.  I mean, bloody heck, even the fan-base knows that, or there wouldn't be fan-art that makes more sense than the cannon work!

I had to dig through a lot of Lapidot crap, but I was able to find a really good example of what it should have been like: Reunion by Linkerbell.

My mistake: this comic was Lapidot...

I was also able to find a better scene in fan-art of their friendship instead of just Lapis taking their stuff and leaving in Raising the Barn.  Just compare the cannon video with the fan-art below and tell me what you honestly think: which one gives a more sincere, in depth look at what their friendship is, or at least could have been?

Like, Lily Orchard pointed out that Steven Universe is chalked full of anime references.  If you're going to use those references, which are fine in principle, then at least try to use some that are appropriate for their situation... such as what fan-art was able to do.

Fan-art was able to do something that was supposed to be the job of the Steven Universe crew when developing each episode, and that raises a lot of questions.

Heck, let me dive in a little deeper: why is it never brought up again, not even during the battle with Spinel?  Trust me when I say that when a friend bails on you only to suddenly come back, that would cause a lot of hurt towards any self-respecting human being... or in this case any self-respecting Gem, as both species are proven to be a lot alike with regard to feelings, emotions, and the psychological makeup of each.

Here's the thing: there's so much potential here for episodes that never happened.
If you try doing it in Steven Universe Future, then that would be fine, but it would just be much needed blasts into the past, especially the part regarding reconciliation of their relationship.

The truth of the matter is Bismuth could have played an important part regarding their relationship redemption.  Sure, Lapis and Peridot could have worked out a lot of their differences, but in the event that emotions or something goes too far, there would be one Gem that both tells the truth and won't take any shit - that's Bismuth.

You want another episode idea?
Here's one: how about one where Lapis goes through the same crap that Steven does with Connie in ⚠️πŸ”ž Bismuth Casual?  However, instead of being different, Lapis goes through her own form of self-worth issues?
How about explore the point where Lapis is past her crap with Jasper, but unsure if the stuff she did to Peridot really is in the past?
How about Lapis gets jealous of Peridot being able to talk to Bismuth about important stuff (such as building Little Homeworld) like it's nothing?
What if she comes to the realization that because of all her isolation to the world she now calls home, there isn't much for her to go on to connect with even to the Gems she holds dear?
What if Steven, after Bismuth Casual, recognizes the same signs in Lapis and extends a hand?
What if the reason Peridot doesn't do anything about it at first is because she recognizes there's something wrong, but decides to trust Lapis to tell her when she's ready, and they talk it out at the end of the episode?
So I ask, what's wrong with that kind of ending, where Peridot does admit that she was hurt badly by what Lapis did to her, but they did talk about this after Reunited and have been making a slow but steady progress to getting to a far more healthy relationship that Lapis ever had with Jasper by the time of Steven Universe Future?
Bismuth could also be the driving force behind Lapis extending to Peridot how she's feeling for multiple reasons: she knows what it's like and knows Lapis and Peridot well enough to know that talking would be the best option.

Put in the fact all three of these characters have made some pretty big mistakes (I mean on a big scale), and there's already a level of understanding between them.  Each of them have offended Steven in some way - Bismuth with being "too violent", Peridot assisting with the Cluster, and Lapis trying to take the ocean, and this is just the tip of the iceberg.  Truth is, why wouldn't they listen to Bismuth?  Play your cards right, and she's practically Garnet in this trio.

Look, all I'm saying is that, like other characters, you're missing out on a lot of stuff, and these three have something special, and I don't mean that in a romantic way.  You just need to give them the breathing room to present that to the viewer.

Don't tell me or hint to me that this stuff is happening... show me what's happening!
And this is just one of those things that I really wanted to see!

What do you think? The Bismuth, Lapis, Peridot trio got something? Let me know!

Romeo x Juliet Review

So during the last Saturday Night Synopsis, I binged-watched the entire Romeo x Juliet series.
Romeo x Juliet is a fantasy romance anime that can be found on two different kissanime sites: on KissAnimeRU, and KissAnimePLUS, in which I would advise against KissAnimePLUS because of their pornographic advertisements...

Anyway, and to be completely honest... I have really mixed feelings about this anime.
Like most Romeo and Juliet variations, it tries to take a new twist on such an old classic, and I'm under the impression they do this because it is an attempt to keep things interesting.

So the question remains... if whether or not they were able to keep things interesting.
In a way? Yes, they were, but from a story-telling perspective and the world they developed, I feel like they fell short in certain areas, which what made the anime (dare I say) mediocre.

I'm not saying they didn't try, because they did, but it was how it was all executed was how it felt so mediocre to me.  Then again, I suppose it's because it's pretty bland in relation to other dramatic fantasy animes, such as Attack on Titan, at least in regard to animation.

Something else too... this was supposed to also be a romance...
Which, I'm really sorry to say... this anime didn't have enough of.
I mean, it's freaking Romeo and Juliet!
I feel like they spent too much on doubling down what was at stake than any real romance on these two, and it stinks that the way they double down on the stakes wasn't always the best in my opinion.
They focus so much on how they were always apart that I don't think they made the most of the opportunity that they had together... but then again, it might be because of the culture at the time that I'm missing that would explain the lack of hugs, or at least the kissing of the hand.

Look, it's really hard for me to explain, but I'll try.
I wanted more than just typical romance between Romeo and Juliet... I wanted to fall in love with the couple so much so that when the end came, I would be pissed at whoever drove them apart, but that's not what happened in this anime.  I didn't feel any of that, and it's because I didn't feel it is exactly why I frown at the results.

As for doubling down on what was at stake... I mean, think about this universe...
There were certain things Juliet, under realistic circumstances, shouldn't have avoided but did.

Anyway, I made a reference to Attack on Titan before: if Romeo x Juliet had a reboot with the same animation, depth and length of milking drama, dark atmosphere and heavily emphasizing what made Romeo and Juliet's romance work, then I would have had a better opinion of this anime, but that's not what happened.

I mean, if you're going to imply from the beginning with the freaking theme song that this anime was going to be a sad one, then you should've at least tried to imply that through the animation too, and not just with the dark color choice.

Then again, Romeo x Juliet was done in 2007, so I suppose I can't be too critical of something made so long ago.

SNS (10-11-2019)

October 11, 2019
⚠️πŸ”ž = Following website contains potential adult themes,
whether in the content itself or the advertisements that support the website.
Approach with caution, preferably with an ad-blocker.
πŸ“Ί Mao Mao: Heroes of Pure Heart
🌟 S1E7: Not Impressed
[⚠️πŸ”ž KissCartoon]
Idk who's funnier in this episode: Mao Mao or Adorabat...  πŸ˜‚

There is something I forgot to mention about the KissCartoon website though, and that's the fact that (while Mao Mao isn't mature in itself) there are obvious categories that are mature in nature.
Thus, in the future, I'm going to stamp the website with the 18+ plus mark that I always warn people about in the beginning of every SNS.

So yeah... thinking back to Break Up, something just occurred to me...
How the heck can Badgerclops have stuff clogged in his metal arm?
Isn't it... idk... amputated... like Adorabat's leg?
Man, this show just got dark... πŸ™‚

S1E8: Enemy Mime
[⚠️πŸ”ž KissCartoon]
Badgerclops isn't kidding folks... he's got a track for everything, it seems like. πŸ˜‚
And Adorabat... well... she's starting to grow on me, if she hasn't already.

S1E9: Outfoxed
[⚠️πŸ”ž KissCartoon]
Just when I thought Adorabat couldn't get any darker... she does.
Classical way to handle things for someone who hasn't seen that much of the world, Adorabat.

🌟 S1E10: Bao Bao's Revenge
[⚠️πŸ”ž KissCartoon]
I distinctly remember seeing this episode on TV at least once... maybe even twice.
Man, does Mao Mao have issues he needs to work through...
I feel ya man... I really do...
I even feel being overly dramatic... something I do... a lot.
I mean, freaking heck... Mao Mao goes Super Saiyan for a few seconds only to go adorable on us, which is just too freaking funny. πŸ˜‚
Adorabat being empathetic with Mao Mao was pretty cute too. πŸ™‚

And seeing that mamma use a little magic makes me wonder about something...
Does exposure to the Pure Heart for a long time do... idk... strange things?
What if the Sweetie Pies were once monsters themselves?
Just throwing that out there.

🌟 S1E11: Popularity Conquest
[⚠️πŸ”ž KissCartoon]
Okay, first off, heels? On a lion? Brings a whole new meaning to Lion King... πŸ˜‚
Then I'm not sure what happened next... I got a feel between Hello Kitty and Mickey Mouse...
Only to be directed into a queezy J-Pop feel with a side order of pink...
Idk - gay and weird are the only two words I can think of at 4:00 in the morning and it's that kind of weird that hasn't made me laugh because it's just... well... weird. πŸ˜•

What else is weird, but on a more positive note, is how I think about my job at the end of this episode.  You're not always liked in customer service, but damn-it, you still have a job to do.
Thanks, Mao Mao.

And thanks Adorabat, for taking the words out of my mouth... she's so cute. 😊
I even went back to that scene a second time, you know. πŸ˜‚

S1E12: Sick Mao
[⚠️πŸ”ž KissCartoon]
Maybe Mao Mao was allergic to Adorabat's love? πŸ˜‚
Obviously not... but oh my gosh... was that a reference to Mobile Fight G Gundam coming from Mao Mao's mouth when he was taking on the dragon?!? Classic!

S1E13: Thumb War
[⚠️πŸ”ž KissCartoon]
Apparently, in this universe... the Pure Heart doesn't stop pain from the inside...
Although this should've been expected since there's a therapist.
Something else too... a thumb war has been made exciting...
And I think I'm starting to understand the whole daddy-Mao Mao thing that's been going around.

S1E14: All By Mao Self
[⚠️πŸ”ž KissCartoon]
So... Mao Mao has a better understanding about... friendship?
Weird...not my fav. episode.

S1E15: He's the Sheriff
[⚠️πŸ”ž KissCartoon]
I.. honestly thought I didn't have much to say about this episode...
the Lion King... the Sheriff King? πŸ˜‚
Either way... it looks like Mao Mao's reputation with the Sweetie Pies went up...
to at least touching his muscles.
And what is up with keeping the bike out in the open... you know... unlocked?
Haven't they been after that thing all the time?
Anyway, on another note, a bald Mao Mao reminds me of Beerus... and now I know why... because the original inspiration for Beerus was a cat.
The butter thing was just freaking gross... it's like watching fat people getting washed by their nurses.
And how exactly has the Pure Heart kept them safe from danger when they do so much stupid stuff from the inside?

S1E16: Bobo Chan
[⚠️πŸ”ž KissCartoon] [⚠️πŸ”ž WatchCartoon]
Badgerclops is being too cute with this kid... and Adorabat... yeah, she's getting her dark side now.

I'm now marking WatchCartoon because I have an ad-blocker on... and I don't know if clicking certain places means mature material.

🌟 S1E17: Small
[⚠️πŸ”ž KissCartoon] [⚠️πŸ”ž WatchCartoon]
Mao Mao naming his sword is too cute... but I'm not even kidding...
Even Mao Mao's dad reminds me of Beerus too... and given that Mao Mao's name is being cleared up a little bit now only proves how short their friendship actually is.  I mean, if they were comrades for a longer span of time, some of the episodes just... idk, wouldn't make sense.
Still a favorite episode anyway. πŸ™‚

S1E18: Legend of Torbaclaun
[⚠️πŸ”ž KissCartoon] [⚠️πŸ”ž WatchCartoon]

🌟 S1E19: Meet Tanya Keys
[⚠️πŸ”ž KissCartoon] [⚠️πŸ”ž WatchCartoon]
Now I'm starting to wonder how long that partnership was...
or if there will be another one... how many partners did Mao Mao have again?
Either way, fun episode.

S1E20: Weapon of Choice
[⚠️πŸ”ž KissCartoon] [⚠️πŸ”ž WatchCartoon]
Mao Mao and his sword, huh? Well, if Mao Mao is the common denominator, what does that say about him? Just throwing a potential theory out there.

S1E21: The Truth Stinks
[⚠️πŸ”ž KissCartoon] [⚠️πŸ”ž WatchCartoon]
Baderclops can't take personal criticism... but yet dishes it out to Mao Mao on a frequent basis.
Weird... understandable for his character, but weird... and dare say... a jack-wagon.
And now I know which episode was played as part of the trailers on CartoonNetwork.

S1E22: Trading Day
[⚠️πŸ”ž KissCartoon] [⚠️πŸ”ž WatchCartoon]
Everyone thinking their life is worse than the other?  Goodness, how did Adorabat get involved in this when she knew that she was protected her whole life?
Anyway... Adorabat becomes Batman- I mean, Mao Mao for a day.
And does Adorabat... have parents!? Ones we haven't seen and we're... what... 22 episodes in!?
But yeah... Mao Mao? He is cool and pretty. πŸ˜‚

S1E23: Head Chef
[⚠️πŸ”ž KissCartoon] [⚠️πŸ”ž WatchCartoon]
Dipping? Is this why people make such a fuss on Tumblr about Mao Mao and Badgerclops being super gay for each other? Actually, Tumblr will make a fuss about anything, so never mind. πŸ˜•

You know what I won't never mind? The fact that Adorabat mentions that she has a dad... and I don't think it is Mao Mao... can I see this girl's parents? Please?

Something else too... what is up with Mao Mao and Badgerclops always having some kind of petty argument that's threatening to tear their friendship apart if Adorabat wasn't there?
See, this proves that either their friendship is short-lived and/or Mao Mao's got this thing with partners... and I can't wait to see more of this.

Before this episode, I've always thought as Badgerclops as the one who was focused... you know... because he has his head on straight... unlike our lovingly over-dramatic Mao Mao... πŸ˜‚

🌟 S1E24: Orangusnake Begins
[⚠️πŸ”ž KissCartoon] [⚠️πŸ”ž WatchCartoon]
So Orangusnake didn't recognize Mao Mao from the first episode, but he's responsible for making Orangusnake who he is today?  I feel like they are making this stuff up as they go along.

Also, this reminds me of last week's SNS art feature - I wasn't sure how or what bad guy to use, but this episode has inspired some real potential... no matter how freaking lame the name of their combo Voltron is. πŸ˜‚

What is odd, however, is the Ruby Pure Heart's play in all this.  Just see the episode - you'll see what I mean when I say that it may not be as pure as the show is letting it on to be... as well as Mao Mao being okay with something he specifically mentions in the end.

🌟 S1E25: Sugar Berry Fever
[⚠️πŸ”ž KissCartoon] [⚠️πŸ”ž WatchCartoon]
Oh my goodness... Mao Mao... reminds me of Batman... again. πŸ˜‚
And he turns Super Saiyan... over food. πŸ˜‚
J-Just watch the episode. πŸ˜‚

S1E26: Captured Clops
[⚠️πŸ”ž KissCartoon] [⚠️πŸ”ž WatchCartoon]
To be honest... I thought Badgerclops was petty before... now it's just getting worse - poor guy.

S1E27: Flyaway
[⚠️πŸ”ž KissCartoon] [⚠️πŸ”ž WatchCartoon]
From what I can see, I think this episode shows improvement animation-wise. πŸ™‚

S1E28: Baost in Show
[⚠️πŸ”ž KissCartoon] [⚠️πŸ”ž WatchCartoon]

I had to stop my binge-watching here since there were no more episodes.

Essentially... a Mao Mao Marathon... πŸ˜‚

Approach with caution, preferably with an ad-blocker.
Art Feature:
Please, if at any point you see your artwork being featured
but don't want it to be featured
let me know through DeviantArt and/or through the comments.
I'm just trying to share really good artwork.

πŸ“Ί Igor
It's...a pretty dark movie...
Look, I get it's for children, but it's more like an intro to dark humor.
It's cute in its own right... but goodness gracious, Igor and Eva's relationship is a little weird.
You'll see what I mean when you watch it.

πŸ“Ί Mao Mao: Heroes of Pure Heart
S1E1: I Love You Mao Mao
[KimCartoon]
Oh my gosh, when I first saw this on Cartoon Network, I found myself smiling.
I'm not even kidding - first episode in and it was simple but so freaking cute... and not because of the villagers. Mao Mao is pretty darn cool.
Don't care much for the theme, as I do for most anime shows, but ah well. πŸ˜‚

S1E2: The Perfect Adventure
[KimCartoon]
Wait... was that the Master Sword!?
I'm pretty sure that's the Master Sword!
Is Mao Mao... the Hero of Time!?!? 😲

S1E3: No Shortcuts
[KimCartoon]
Now that I think about it, I'm pretty certain I've seen this episode on Cartoon Network too, along with all the others... interesting.

S1E4: Ultraclops
[KissCartoon] [WatchCartoon]
So for some reason, it wouldn't play on KissCartoon, so I had to go elsewhere.
But man... Adorabat... πŸ˜‚

S1E5: Mao Mao's Bike Adventure
[KissCartoon]
Okay, the look that Mao Mao gives to the giraffe dude at the beginning for threatening Adorabat...
too freaking cute. πŸ˜‚
You know what else is cute? The fact Mao Mao is treating his bike like a girlfriend... sort of. πŸ˜‚
It's like Shaggy and sandwiches, man.
Then again, Badgerclops was kinda cute here too... being as understanding as he was.

S1E6: Breakup
[KissCartoon]
Adorabat going through something else, huh? Nice.
It's weird that the handshaking thing doesn't come around until this episode... or any of the cool moves for that matter...  πŸ˜‚
Although, it is kind of interesting to see where Mao Mao got his start though with Badgerclops, although I admit that this gives the impression their friendship hasn't been that long.
Adorabat's thing with fire... too funny. πŸ˜‚
What else is funny? That I'm starting to think of Kung Fu Panda all over again...
and the thing with fire... just watch the episode. πŸ˜‚

πŸ“Ί Sea Level
Oh my goodness... this movie is so bad. πŸ˜‚
Sure, it's animation isn't Ratatoing or Little Panda Fighter, but the plot is bad... like really bad. πŸ˜‚
Just watch it - you'll see what I mean.

I saw this, like, twice on the TV... but heck, it's Saturday. πŸ˜‚

πŸ“Ί The Amazing World of Gumball

πŸ“Ί The Incredibles

This one was on TV too... just didn't pay much attention to it because of homework.

Cleaning Up Twitter Account

I really feel like I need to keep my professional life, at least what little I have, be separate from personal stuff.  Since hobbies and stuff like that is considered personal, I figured I make that distinction.

Thankfully, TweetDelete makes this easier on me.  It might take a while, but I'm essentially starting over, and figured I let you know.

Dream (8-1-2019)

Okay, so I'm certain that this was two-fold, since I remember waking up sometime after 3:00 AM.

The first part was actually kind of cool.  I think I was on a mission with the Avengers and I was with Peter most of the time during all this.  Although I think we were more in the process of actually starting the mission than anything else, such as packing, etc.

The second half of all this was super weird.  I was in a dark castle and the Beast was there... actually being a monster.  I think he was looking for Belle, and it wasn't until later that there was someone else at play... someone trying to make Belle see the Beast as a monster... but of course she wouldn't let him go, and things got weirder... and like the first half, there was no real ending.

I remember seeing some other stuff two, like an old playground that was stuck between two hills back in a town I was growing up in.  This time, however, it was covered with people... which was weird because the town I grew up in was more quiet.

Ah well... I feel like this was because of some mistake of my own.  Usually, I don't dream this way, and it bugs me whenever I do.  From now on, I better have something playing at night - something to keep the bad combination of my imagination at bay... or at least that's what I think it is...
