Kimichi, the Saiyan Princess - A More Refined Plot

Tiny Shiny Dragon Ball

This piece is a revised version of the original concept for Kimichi.

Kimichi (kimchi) is a Saiyan princess of Universe 7, though not of the same planet, a Saiyan nonetheless.

Among the royal family, there is a tale in regards to an unnamed ancestor.
This unnamed Saiyan, through much bloodshed of both his own blood and others, had collected the Dragon Balls together in order to wish that he had the power of the gods.
Exactly which Dragon Balls he collected, I haven't decided, though I envisioned in my head multiple times that the said Dragon Balls were the Super Dragon Balls due to them being the less limited on power.  Since Saiyans can breathe in space, just getting them together would be the issue.
For the sake of learning how to better control this power, all the divine power he wished for was stored inside of him... but could not be tapped into without first controlling the beast that was seen through his tail.

Thus, without saying, Kimichi's ancestors - unlike those who evolved out of their ape form in Universe 6 - found a way to evolve into their ape form.  While having a moon would be an advantage in regard to power (a double-edged sword if you don't have enough control), it is common for Kimichi's clan of Saiyans to be able to move in between forms and even speak plainly while still in ape form.  Among those with the most power and the best control, all reside in the royal family.

Due to this high standard in regard to this specific race of Saiyans and the common pride that is shared among all Saiyans, it goes without saying that Saiyans who have evolved like this and cannot control their ape side on a decent level are considered very weak unless they can prove otherwise through raw power.

Due to this deep level of control, the common trait of having two different eye colors in each iris is taken symbolically, a constant reminder of the Man & Beast dwelling withing and coexisting together.

It is this strong level of control of their ape side that makes Kimichi's clan of Saiyans so distinct, and perhaps spares them of potential destruction from King Vegeta.

King Vegeta demands that his son, Prince Vegeta, be taught in their ways of having such control.  Kimichi's father gives his consent in this matter, but only on the betrothal between the two young Saiyans.  This is why, with due diligence of his own, why Vegeta has the control he has when he takes on Goku during the early years of Dragon Ball.
Unfortunately, while the training does commence, the young prince and princess do not get married on the account of Freiza's brutal genocide of the Saiyans.

Kimichi survives the genocide, but only with a few Saiyans left to help and guide her, among them a royal guard and dear friend, Kyūkoro (cucumber).
Over the years after the genocide, Kimichi must resort to not only hiding behind a magical disguise (mainly to hide her eyes and tail to make her look more human), but to also survive with what is left of her clan.

Kyūkoro is charged with finding the whereabouts of Prince Vegeta and to bring the betrothed couple together once he does.

While Kyūkoro does find Vegeta, he never tells Kimichi about him, primarily because Kyūkoro carries romantic feelings for his princess, and will resort to anything to either win her affections and/or buy more time for that end.  It is Kyūkoro's underhanded tactics that leads to many deaths of his own people ("mysterious disappearances", unnamed murderer and he was too late, etc.), or at least what was left of them that get too close to his secret operation of winning Kimichi's affections.

Whether it is Kyūkoro's operations killing them off or Kyūkoro convincing them to leave in order to re-populate on another planet they find habitable (Kimichi approves of this because she fears for her people because of the unknown deaths), Kyūkoro does manage to eventually make the count of Saiyans to only himself and Kimichi.  As the numbers decrease, Kimichi's desire to find Vegeta intensifies in the name of Saiyan pride and her own blind love.

Kyūkoro's scheme does work for a time, and Kimichi remains oblivious to his hand in the disappearance of her people (she only knows of a few that stayed behind on the planet to re-populate), but she nonetheless finds Vegeta on her own, conveniently around the time before Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods.

Unfortunately, by this point, Vegeta is not only in a serious relationship with Bulma, but they've already had Trunks.
This gives Kyūkoro an opportunity to win Kimichi's affections indefinitely, at least without the interference of the "wayward prince" as he calls him.  However, Kimichi's own feelings for Vegeta prevent her from giving up.  This leads to a fight between Kimichi and Kyūkoro, in which he leaves the side of his princess, swearing that he'll make her see that he is perfect for her.

Bulma, who is already familiar with the stubborn ways of Saiyans, not only takes pity on Kimichi, but makes an attempt to befriend her despite the strained relationship between her and Vegeta, whom openly admits to had forgotten that he had been betrothed at any point.  It is for this reason that Bulma invites Kimichi to her birthday party, and why she is there upon the introduction of Beerus the Destroyer.

Despite having a great deal of power, Kimichi is not strong enough to handle Beerus on her own.  Her heart is also proven to be in the wrong place when it is revealed (through legitimate attempt) that she doesn't qualify as a "righteous Saiyan" for the Super Saiyan God ritual.
Kimichi, although by this point had suffered enough humiliation, is humble enough to admit that she could be the reason why the ritual didn't work while involved.  Her theory is proven correct when they attempt the ritual once again, this time with a pregnant Videl.  This brings to light that some of her feelings for Vegeta (to some degree) were impure, even though Kimichi herself is unsure of the moment as into why this is so.  This particular revelation adds an additional strain to her already strained relationship with Vegeta... at least in her head that is.

All hope of ever winning Vegeta from Bulma is completely removed from Kimichi's mind upon witnessing Vegeta's rage against Beerus on the account of Bulma.

In her head, someone as sophisticated as Vegeta being willing to lose all sense on the account of someone as weak as Bulma (in the sense of actual power, and nothing more) says a lot in regard to the disposition of the Saiyan towards someone else.

Kimichi realizes that her outcome regarding Vegeta cannot be changed (even if she were to fight for him), and thus goes back to what is left of her people in hope of at least starting over... only to find no trace of them.

Kimichi, upon this revelation, attempts a Saiyan equivalent to seppuku ( 切腹 ), only to be prevented from doing so by Goku and Vegeta.
Goku, because of his instant transmission ability.
Vegeta, because he had a hunch that Kimichi's disappearance wasn't going to lead to anything "the Saiyan race would be proud of", insisted that he listen to that hunch by Bulma.

They do reach her in time to prevent her from committing suicide, but it leads to a massive fight on the deserted planet - a race against time with two Saiyans against one trying to kill herself.

Kimichi is proven to be a capable opponent, at least to Goku, but some of this might carry some truth due to certain aspects, such as how she survives a head-butting from Goku (which breaks her now useless disguise and reveals the unique nature of her Saiyan clan in addition to her tail), is able to transform into Super Saiyan 2, and all of this while holding her ground against two very capable Saiyans who are stronger than she is.

Even though Kimichi is well aware that she is battling two Saiyans that are stronger than she is, she is proven to be better than both of them in regard to wit and energy control.  However, these two traits are still hindered by her clouded mind as she explains in the middle of combat that she has lost her purpose - not just as a princess, but as a being.

"Even though we are Saiyans... I can't make you understand how I feel.
It's like a burning desire you can't unleash... like having the ability to fight but never being able to...
I'm sure you can at least understand that... right Goku?"

Despite these revelations and the remark made by Goku, she is inevitably defeated (because heck, this is Goku and Vegeta we're talking about here) and taken back to Earth in the arms of Vegeta himself.

It is her time in the infirmary that Vegeta is able to talk some sense into Kimichi.

"Kakarot wasn't wrong you know - you are a capable Saiyan,
not just in power, but your honor and pride as well.
I am the only one who understands that about you.
However, I will not change my mind about us...
understand that I do not reject you... but rather, I chose Bulma."

Knowing that she would need time to understand what that means, Vegeta doesn't explain himself further.

Over the course of her stay on Earth, Kimichi eventually warms up to the rest of the gang.  It is revealed that Kimichi has a very gentle, motherly side to her, in which she expresses much to Trunks, Goten, and the younger generation.

Much to the delight of the team, she also is a good cook who happens to remember some recipes that were a delight on her home planet due to being very filling for the long haul
Sharing what her people used to share with her gives her some peace about the loss of said people and comfort in spite of her circumstances with Vegeta.

It is also revealed that her control over her normal energy is efficient enough to even do things outside of fighting, such as relaxing the nerves, or even making her temperature change (she could literally cook in her hands if she wanted to with this), and other trivial things that makes ki energy potentially more general over just for fighting purposes alone.

When Beerus becomes more prominent on the scene, at first there is no concrete relationship between them.  He regards her for his normally selfish reasons.
Over time, however, he picks up on something perceptibly different about Kimichi, which inevitably frustrates him.  Being a fighter without being aware of one's full potential convinces Beerus to push Kimichi's limits in some way or another, while sharing a similar interest in new cuisine and the exploring thereof.

It is revealed during this point of their relationship that the story told about the royal family is actually true, which explains the divine energy Beerus was picking up on that was lingering inside Kimichi, which was never properly tapped into.  This changes Kimichi's disposition towards Beerus from another mortal to "interesting" and nothing more.

This also changes their relationship a bit, from just being there to Whis himself dropping hints on how to better tap into the divine power.  Even though it is met with little to no success, Kimichi still trains on the deserted planet as a reminder to survive no matter what.  There is even a strong possibility, due to this fact, that Kimichi even trains alongside Goku and Vegeta.

After this revelation, their relationship does pick up in general, but to how much depends, due to the fact that this part is super vague in my head right now.  However, I do have a few concrete ideas regarding how they could be feeling about each other in certain sagas.

During the Golden Frieza Saga, Kimichi is one of the fighters against Golden Frieza.
Even though her training has made her a better fighter since her suicide attempt, even being able to achieve Super Saiyan 3 because of said training, she still isn't strong enough to take down Golden Frieza on her own.
In the attempt to do so, however, brings about a disasterly consequence - Golden Freiza corners her in such a way that he is able to put her tail off, which is actually a delight for Freiza due to the pain that follows pulling off said tail.

Yes, being able to tap into the ape side has its advantages, but there is a terrible price to pay if one were to successfully do so.
In Kimichi's case, not only does her tail come off, but her lower back is destroyed (you'd be able to see some part of her back and a few roots come out with the tail as you pull it off), making her immobile and throwing her into a state of comatose.  This will leave a permanent scar on her lower back.
Whis is able to heal her body (since he does reverse time by three minutes during this fight), there is something he suggests he not fix with his powers - the mental backlash of the ape form is too fragile for him to repair.  If Kimichi wanted to survive (or at least come out of this as normal as possible), she would have to come out of this comatose on her own.

Similar to Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, both states of Kimichi's being (the Man & Beast) now battle for dominance in Kimichi's mind.  Due to her tail being removed, her state is imbalanced, primarily because the ape side is trying to secure dominance as a defense mechanism.  This leaves Kimichi out of commission during the Universe 6 Saga and the Future Trunks Saga, her body under the watchful care of Bulma in a medical machine within its own separate room.

Beerus, who is unaccustomed to taking no for an answer (or at least going down without a fight since he was the first to see Kimichi's potential) gets the proper help that he needs in order to connect his own mind with the unconscious Kimichi.
Thus, at any time Beerus wished, he could enter into a mental connection with Kimichi and aid her out of the mess she is in, whether it be through training (similar to how Beerus himself trains in his sleep) or being one step closer to getting out.  Thus, to no one's knowledge except Whis', Beerus trains Kimichi himself for a time in hope of drawing out her powers. This lasts through the entire Universe 6 Saga and Future Trunks Saga.  It is perhaps here that any potential chemistry between these two blossom.

Outside of Kimichi's personal predicament, a Future Kimichi accompanies Future Trunks to the past - a version of Kimichi who not only is without a tail, but one that carries the same scar on her back that is evidence of why her tail isn't there.  Far more down-trodden than her present self, she sticks to Trunks like a dear friend, perhaps being so due to her relationships in the future.

One relationship, however, was never resolved.
At first, Beerus wasn't sure nor could think too much about the matter, but it is revealed that Future Kimichi has romantic feelings for Beerus... or at least for his now dead future counterpart, that is.  She reveals that she never told Future Beerus how she really felt and, to some degree, regrets doing so. If Future Beerus had not told her to run, her stubbornness would have kept her around to the bitter end.

Sad to say, Future Kimichi does meet a tragic end.  While she does achieve Super Saiyan Blue during one of the fights with Black Goku, a critical injury from her enemy is not treated in time.  Exactly how she meets her end, I'm unsure, but there are three ways for her to meet her end:
1. Asks Beerus to destroy her body like he did to Zamasu.
2. Stay behind when Future Zenos destroys Infinite Zanos, dying by the hands of the Omi-King himself.
3. Black Goku sends a blast at Future Kimichi so severe, it destroys her physical body.  In any case, this could leave some divine energy behind that Trunks can use and/or pass to Kimichi herself before Black Goku has a chance to use it.

In any case, Beerus knowing Future Kimichi is dead puts a new motivation in him to train Kimichi better than ever before.
However, this puts a mild protective level in him, which explains that, despite her power, Beerus forbids her from entering the Tournament of Power, cryptically remarking that unless Kimichi can achieve Super Saiyan Blue, she will be a hindrance to the team, a weakness that cannot be displayed with the universe at stake.

Kimichi doesn't understand Beerus' logic, but nonetheless doesn't participate as a candidate. She also doesn't go at all in case, "something happens on Earth."

During the tournament, Kyukoro comes to the Earth of Universe 7, now stronger than ever.  He threatens to destroy the Earth if Kimichi does not agree to duel him for her hand.  Aware of how important Earth is to Beerus, even if it is just the food, Kimichi reluctantly accepts.

They both go to the same deserted planet that Kimichi's people went missing and fight with everything they have.  It is revealed here that not only did Kyukoro slaughter what was left of their people, but explains he was able to do it by getting his hands on destructive power, pointing to Kyukoro in the same situation as Topo. However, his inexperience with the power leaves him at enough of a disadvantage to be beaten by Kimichi... that is, when she achieves Super Saiyan Blue due to multiple threats from Kyukoro against Beerus himself.

Due to the extent of the fight, it lasts longer than the Tournament of Power, giving Beerus enough time to discover Kimichi's disappearance, pinpoint her location, and be there in time to witness Kimichi achieve Super Saiyan Blue in addition to her devoted affection towards him.

However, due to the severity of the fight, Kimichi is badly injured by the time any hope of help arises.

It is after this important character arc that things have become more vague than ever.
Beerus could do one of two things here:
1. He could have Whis heal and/or revive her, whichever is necessary, and they return home with stronger hints of affection from Beerus.
2. Realizing that his feelings are real but unhealthy for a Destroyer, decides to give Kimichi a peaceful and encouraging death... by letting her breathe her last in said peace before destroying her body the same way he killed Zamasu, though with less pain.

Killing her himself, or at least disposing of her body in the manner he does, could spring up regrets, but in the event that happens, should the Namekian Dragon Balls not suffice, they might have to use the Super Dragon Balls pertaining to her resurrection.

If she lives, she'd be disappointed concerning Freiza's return, but later motivated by this news to make him pay for taking her tail, a fight Beerus would want to be there to see.

...

Well, that's it!
Let me know what you think, what I can add/remove/edit, and all that fine stuff. 😂
Until then! ❤
